Our Story



Donna Tomassi is so excited to be a co-owner of Studio 8 Fitness! She has been a dance instructor for many years teaching all forms of dance to all age groups. She started teaching group fitness in 1996 and hasn't stopped since.  She is an ACE certified group fitness professional and has taught many different formats.  In 2008, she became a Licensed Zumba Instructor and found the way to bring together her love of dance and fitness.  In 2010, she became an RYT and is a member of the Yoga Alliance.  For the past 2 years, she was co-owner of Chela Yoga also in Waterford before opening Studio 8 Fitness.  She looks forward to meeting you and welcoming you into the studio 8 Family!

 


Lisa Crawford- Palmer is excited about being a co-owner of Studio 8 Fitness! She has been a dancer/dance instructor for 30 years. Teaching and dancing are her passion. When she moved to Oakland County, she met Donna and was introduced to Zumba. She fell in love with it and became an instructor in order to continue to peruse her passion of teaching and Dancing. Since her initial Zumba certification, she has become certified in Zumba Gold, Zumba Tone and Zumba Pro Skills.  Lisa enrolled in Yoga Teacher Training in the fall of 2013 and fell in love with the art and philosophy of Yoga. She was able to use transferable teaching skills from dance and Zumba and apply them to instructing and guiding her Yoga classes. She completed her RYT 200 in December 2013. She is a member of the Yoga Alliance and an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. Lisa is certified in Barre through Barre Certification Academy. She is currently obtaining her certification for Health Coach through the American Council on Exercise. Lisa enjoys life long learning and has a passion for health and wellness. Lisa's love for life and strive to reach for more, inspire others to do the same!

 


Tammy Chouinard has lived in the Waterford area her entire life and enjoys being deeply rooted in her community. She is the mother of three beautiful daughters, one grandson and two granddaughters. She is an artist and entrepreneur and is currently working on a start up project called THRIVE- a studio where local artist and musicians can gather and grow in their creativity. She began doing yoga in 2005 and quickly fell in love with the practice. In 2013 she decided to participate in the RYT200 Teacher Training under Marlo Ziegler, then completing the course in December of 2013. Tammy is passionate about helping others to see the many, many benefits to the practice. She looks forward to seeing you on Friday and Saturday Mornings.



Jennifer Freeborough has worked in a corporate environment for 20 years. Fitness has always been a part of Jennifer’s life. Wanting to try something new she found Pilates and has been actively involved ever since. Jennifer has completed her Stott reformer and mat training and has also completed her Barre training, TRX and PiYo certification.  She loves the challenges and overall wellness that it brings and is committed to giving her clients a great workout and enjoys actively participating.  Jennifer currently lives on Williams Lake where she enjoys the water, gardening and running. She is also a master gardener and loves her 3 rescue cats and the newest addition, a rescue dog.

 


Dana Bennett has enjoyed dance and other athletic pursuits her whole life. She competed in group and solo dance competitions for 15 years and has had the opportunity to train with talented personal trainers throughout her life. Personal fitness is a daily focus for Dana.

After graduating college from Saint Mary's of Notre Dame, she taught middle school English in Okemos, Michigan. She then chose to attend Wayne State Law School and practiced law for 10 years in Michigan, becoming a partner at Foster, Swift, Collins and Smith, PC. in 2009.

Dana has worked with AFAA (Aerobics Fitness Association of America) to become a certified group fitness instructor and is very excited to be a part of the Studio 8 Family. 


Mari Ann has danced since she was very young.   She taught various forms of dance to all age groups at studios, recreation departments and credit and non- credit classes at Oakland Community College.  While working on her undergrad and graduate degree she was in the dance companies at Oakland University and Central Michigan University.  She also has a minor in PE/Dance.  After she had her son she left dance for a while and concentrated on teaching/counseling.  She gradually came back working on choreography for middle School musicals, started working out more and fell in love with Zumba and Yoga. She is a Licensed Zumba instructor-ZIN member and recently received her RYT 200 and is a member of Yoga                Alliance.  She is very excited to be on staff at Studio 8!  

 

Jamie Clark is a mommy of a little boy and has a bachelors degree in Public Relations from Western Michigan University. She has always been into fitness. She discovered POUND ROCKOUT WORKOUT shortly after becoming a member at Studio 8 and loved it. When the opportunity to become a certified instructor came about, she was eager to jump right on it. Jamie loves meeting new people and looks forward to helping others continue their journey to staying fit while having a blast. Studio 8 has a very welcoming and supportive environment and she's happy to be a part of such a great team!

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm Olivia! Being a college and high school graduate at eighteen years old, I find myself spending a majority of my free time either out on the lake or inside working out! I've had a huge passion for wellness and exercise for years and will continue instructing for many years to come. Having taught numerous layouts of spinning, I actively do my best to cater to all ages and experience levels! I hope to see you in my next class!
